Here you go for those of you who have been giving me crap! (Mom).
Ashlynn is a little over 13 months. She's hillarious. She now has 2 teeth. She loves to run around, sit on her ball, and push her 4 wheeler. Another favorite game is dumping out the dog's water before anyone can get to her. The daycare teachers love her, which is good, because I think she's going to give them (and me) a run for their money.
Ashlynn recently had her first camping trip and loved it. I think she'd be outside all day every day if she could. We'll see if she still likes to be outside in the winter......
We've had a pretty busy summer. Grandma's 80th Birthday Bash, Evel Knievel Days, which she loved, the Folk Festival.........she enjoyed dancing with auntie Laura......and she was a dancing fool at the Irish Festival that was at the beginning of this month. :) SHE LOVES TO DANCE. A new trick too....she spins around in circles really fast, then stops and enjoys the dizziness. LOL
My friends Shawn, Jeano, Kari and Gena had a baby shower for Lola yesterday. It was such a beautiful day! We had such a great time, although I wish I could have had one on one time to chat with each of my friends! Lola got many cute things from everyone...Auntie Suzy even gave her a Moncchichi doll and the cutest photo album that is already filled...thank goodness! I've barely printed a picture since I've had digital cameras. Yes "s". I tend to drop them...woops.
Lola will definitely need to be like her mom and change outfits alot...her closet is overflowing!!!! I must say that I feel it is harder to figure out her outfits than my own! Is that bad? She has so many cute outfits, I almost enjoy it when she spits up on them, because then I HAVE to change them and she can wear more outfits in one day! :)
It was Grandma Michelle's first time seeing Lola in person, and when she walked into the room and saw Lola, the tears were flowing! Not only from her, but from me, my mom and my sister! We are such suckers for anything emotional! It was so cute seeing Michelle's reaction, she was thrilled!
It was a great day...and I thank all of my friends for coming to meet Lola! Hopefully she can see you all again really soon!
We took our first trip out of town this past weekend to Garrison, MN. Jen & Rob invited us up to Jen's parent's new lake home. Lola slept the ENTIRE drive up to the lake, which was fantastic! It was about a 4 hour drive with traffic, so it was great not to have any drama in the truck!
Bill & Trish's new house was beautiful! We stayed in the bonus room above the garage which was adorable and nice and private. Good thing for us since Lola doesn't sleep so well at night. Best not to wake up the entire house with her screaming at night! :) Rob even made special omelettes for breakfast...we only bugged him a little about popping the question to Jen this weekend. Really, you already live together and are looking for a house. Get movin' Rob!
Lola was a big hit with Jen's family! She had them at hello! I think Trish wins the prize for longest and most serious cuddle, she was crying she was so happy to hold Lola! It was so cute!
A good time was had by all, Lola was really good all weekend and we can't wait to go back for another visit. Hint hint! :)
Lola had her very first chiropractor appointment when we were at Tom & Robin's cabin on Ottertail Lake this past weekend. This is to help with her fussiness. It was a miniature shorter version of an adult adjustment!
First you work on the back a little. check out the spine..
Then you change position to work on the spine some more! Lola likey!!
Then you get flipped upside down to give the spine a little stre-e-e-e-e-tch!!!
Back to the floor again....
A final twist and turn....
And finish it off with a little lovin'!
Lola recommends Tom Wilson for all your Babies Chiropractic needs! (There's Wilson peaking over the fence!)
Ashlynn is 11 months old today. Wow. She is a walking maniac, and sometimes it looks like she tries to run! She has ONE tooth, but sure uses it to chew her food. We've discovered she LOVES peas, and HATES avacado. She has lots of attitude, and is really starting to test her boundaries. Some days I have to laugh......some days I want to scream.
She is really strong...it is a two man job to change her diaper or get her dressed. For the last couple days she's been good about going in her car seat......I've been bribing her with puffs.
Her cousin Zoe is coming to visit next month, and they are very close in age. It will be interesting.
Im planning her 1st birthday....it will be pretty big I think.......She loves daycare....she flirts with one of the boys there, and she is one of the "older" babies in the class now. She's really into hugging and "kissing" if thats what you want to call it. :) She's also become very interested in the dogs.....she loves them. Roxy is still jealous, but Ashlynn and Buddy play quite a bit.
Can you tell she is drunk off of milk???
Lola earned herself the nickname Shark at feeding times from the way she aggressively goes after her food. Her little head shakes side to side really fast...it is pretty funny! She also has been called Baracuda and Piranha.
However agressive she starts out though, she ALWAYS falls asleep and we have to keep nudging her to wake her up and remind her she is eating!
Our first week home was very busy!!!! We had a good week home and I am so glad that Jeremy had a week off to spend with Lola. She needed her daddy, and so did her mom!
Everyone knows that I like my sleep, so it is very hard for me to be up at what seems like every hour to feed, change a diaper, make sure she is breathing...I haven't yet held up the mirrror to her nose to make sure...but I have thought about it!
Wednesday night Rob & Jen came over for dinner, actually Jen made a delicious veggie lasagne and salad and topped it off with Jeremy's favorite...APPLE CRISP...which she made from scratch. Jen should have her own cooking show...seriously. She has cooked more in our kitchen than I have. That is a little bit sad...for Jeremy, not for me. :) It was this night that Jen coined the name "Monchhichi" for Lola...
On Friday morning we had our newborn appointment in Shakopee. Not with our selected doctor in Prior Lake because she is on a two week vacation. And we were late. What a shock. Not because of mom, which is normal, but because it was our first outing with a baby!!! Oh wait! she pooped on her clothes....oh wait! we need a diaper bag!...oh
wait! we need to buckle her up in the car seat...oh wait! she is hungry again...oh wait! she just spit up all over again...and so on....I rode in the back seat with her to make sure she was OK! I don't like not being able to see her!! When Lola left the hospital on Tuesday, she was 7 lbs 5 oz. Today she was 7.4 which is in the 50th percentile. Her length was 20 inches in the 60th percentile, and her head measured 13.75" in the 50th percentile. The length is shorter due to all the wiggling around and it is hard to measure a baby who is moving. I think it is also partly due to her head not having the slight cone shape from being born. :) Lola did really well at the appt, only crying when we stripped her down to be weighed! We left, and left our well child handbook behind, so we had to turn around and go back. Then we went to Target...mom went in by herself and Dad entertained in the truck!
Friday evening, Grandma and Grandpa Dahlback and auntie Lisa and her boyfriend Ken stopped by to visit. Lola slept almost the entire time thanks to Grandma Kathy's stellar baby skills! We ordered in Chinese and hung out all afternoon.
Saturday morning we had our in-home nurse visit. This is a little backwards since this was supposed to be BEFORE the newborn appt., but oh well. The nurse came to check on both Lola and myself. Lola was the same as the day before...not much of a surprise. We went over questions and then she checked me and I was fine. Not fine if you asked me, I was still very sore and uncomfortable from giving birth.
Later that day, my brother Joe, niece Cecelia, mom, dad and sister Suzanne and her boyfriend Erik all came over to see little Lola! Cece gave her the cutest little doll and duck that quacks...Lola isn't sure what to think of that! Cece really loves Lola alot and drew her another cute picture. Joe was back in MN for the weekend and the next time he will see Lola will be in July at Island Lake! boo!
Sunday was my very first Mother's Day and I just want to say it was so special because I now have a newappreciation for my mom and all mom's! I never knew how HARD motherhood was until now especially that first week home when you are trying to adjust and get to know your new little baby! It is overwhelming but TOTALLY worth it! I wouldn't trade it for the world!!!!!!!!!!!
On Monday, Mom had her 1st day home alone with Lola and let me tell you it was not a party....Getting up every hour or two to feed and then trying to figure out what do, when to sleep, when to eat, when to clean, etc., all while handling a newborn is not easy people!!!!! Especially when you have been used to taking care of yourself only for the past 33 years! UGH!!!!! It will get easier, it will get easier, it will get easier...I hope!!!!!!!! When Jeremy came home for lunch at noon, I looked at him and started bawling (favorite past-time this last week) and whined "it is soooooo good to see you!!!" He said " I have only been gone for 6 hours!!" Yes, it was lonely! I am crying all the time for no apparent reason. Jeremy has no idea what to say or do! And this is not the typical Wilson crying you are all accustomed to, it is random and very sad and it is not triggered by a special moment. Just horomones, and that is a WHOLE other story!
It is pretty split as to who Lola looks like, Mom or Dad...we even have a few other people, such as my aunt Robin, who Lola is sporting a similar hairstyle (P.S. Robin is married to my dad's brother Tom...):
To me it depends on Lola's look, I see Jeremy sometimes, then I see me....

Or someone else...like Monchhichi? haha
