Another Road Trip
Dad here.
My parents are turning 60 this month. Dad had his 60th on Valentine's Day and Mom will have hers on the 18th. My sister and I decided we should do something special for their birthday. I came up with the idea to meet in Deadwood for a weekend and Teresa did most of the legwork. We stayed at a neat little B&B and by a stroke of luck we got upgraded to a full rental house which was fantastic.
So we made another road trip with Ms. Zoe Belle. I can hardly believe it but she was actually better than she was for the Christmas trip. On the Christmas trip she would sleep for a long time and then wake up crying. This time she would sleep for a long time and then wake up and entertain herself for a while. We actually had one part of the trip where we drove for 4 straight hours. We made the entire trip to Deadwood and all the way to within 40 miles of Minneapolis on the way back before she really got fussy. When that happened we hit a rest stop and Gena switched to the back seat to keep her happy the rest of the way home.
She was great during our stay in Deadwood as well. On Saturday we went to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. At both places I carried her on the Baby Bjorn and she was completely content to walk around with me and see the sights. We had to make a little walk outside in the cold at Mt. Rushmore so I zipped her up inside my jacket and she just loved it.
On Sunday we walked around Main Street Deadwood with her on the Bjorn again and she did great. We took her to dinner at Jake's which is a very formal restaurant owned by Kevin Costner. I doubt anyone at the tables around us even knew we had a baby because she was just content to hang out and she hardly made a peep.
I'm so proud of what a good little traveler little Zoe is!

It's worked awesome from day one. When they are little they face inwards on the Bjorn and front piece extends up to support their heads.
When they can hold their heads up on their own you switch them to face forward and the front piece folds over so they can look around.
When we asked for it I wasn't sure how much I'd use it, but it has been very handy. It's much more convenient at the grocery store than a stroller and I used it at home when she was fussy but I had chores to do. I have done dishes, laundry, raked leaves, gone shopping - you name it.
Obviously I haven't used the sling but I don't think they'd work well past 2 or 3 months.
