Dad here.
Zoe's chicken pox are not entirely scabbed over but they're pretty close. She still has a couple of blisters so we decided to play it safe and keep her home Monday. I'll spend the day with her. She's been having great naps lately so as long as she keeps that up I can work from home for at least a half day.
We're excited to see her crawl but we're really going to have to get busy with the baby-proofing now.
Dad here again. I just got back from the doctor, I picked Gena up on the way. They had us rush Zoe in to the exam room so we didn't risk anyone else getting sick.
We can give her Benadryl to help with the itching but otherwise it's just a matter of keeping her home and letting this thing play out. She hasn't run a fever or had decreased appetite and the itching doesn't seem to bother her too badly right now. We hope she'll have a quick and easy recovery.
Dad here.
Sunday morning while changing Zoe's diaper we noticed a little spot on Zoe's butt. Grandma Barthelemy said that maybe it was chicken pox. Over the day she got more and more spots and Aunt Judy, who is a nurse, agreed that it probably was chicken pox.
Most of her spots are on her butt and on the top of her head. There are a few on her face and upper chest. I'm going to take her to the doctor today and spend the day at home with her. Grandma Barthelemy will stay home with her on Wednesday and Thursday and then mom will stay home on Friday. We hope she'll be OK to go back to daycare next Monday.
We feel terrible that she has it this young but so far she doesn't seem bothered by it. I'll keep everyone updated when we get back from the doctor.
Dad here. Today we had Zoe's 9-month well check. We ended up having it two weeks late because she had a fever when it was originally scheduled. They don't like to give her vaccinations when she already has a fever because it makes it harder to tell if she's having a bad reaction to them.
The doctor says that everything looks good and she's developing normally.
Her height is 29 1/2 inches which is 97th percentile.
Weight is 20 lbs 11 oz which is 80th percentile.
Her head is 18 1/2 inches which is 99th percentile.
The doctor also said that on average a baby will have six teeth by their first birthday. Zoe's sixth is popping out right now.
